How to Enjoy Running

Are you finding it quite difficult to enjoy your time when running? In order for us to make physical activity a consistent and sustainable part of our lives, we must want to do it. It is much easier to do something if you enjoy it!

At Coopah, we want to make sure you enjoy your time running, so we have a few tips which help us when running becomes a bit of a chore.

Tip one - Leave the timer at home!

For the first few runs, whilst you are trying to get back to it, leave your watch or strava at home and lace up your shoes and head out to enjoy your run.  Run at an easy pace, listen to the birds, or the cars and just enjoy the run.  Start to think about your favourite races, what made them your favourite race or run and remember why you love running.

Tip two - Take in the surroundings

One of the huge positives of running is that it gets you outside and helps to see what a wonderful world we live in.   Don’t just take our word for it, Lonely Planet wrote a book on how amazing running can be!  Take it all in, explore mother nature and enjoy your feet hitting the ground whether that’s in an urban jungle or a rural trial.

Tip three - Finish these runs wanting more

You're only going to run again if you enjoy the run so ensure you don’t run too far or too fast so that it puts you off running.  Try to finish each run wanting to go out again.

Tip four - Have a target

Once you’ve got your love for running back, it is good to have a target to aim for.  One of our pet hates is that everyone thinks you need to enter a marathon but for 99% of the nation, this would just put you off running.  We recommend trialing a range of distances and finding what works for you.  If you are new to running, enter a parkrun.   ParkRuns are free and most importantly have a great community feel.  100’s of our members run these and you never know you might spot a Coopah top at one.  The best thing about park run for me?  The family feel, you see people pushing buggies to children running with their grandparents, now if that doesn’t put a smile on your face, what will?

If you want a more competitive race then Let’s Do This is a great place to start to find a race.  Let’s Do This will help you find, book and share your next momentous experience.

Tip five - Let someone else plan your runs for you

One of the main reasons people stop running is because they get bored of the same runs.  Coopah’s new tech plans a personalised plan, for you and to your pace ensuring you’ll love every run.

Let 2022 be the year you smash your goals!
