Our favourite Winter running Gear
When it comes to running gear, everyone has a different opinion. Here at Coopah HQ, we discussed our favourite gear but in the end, we decided to ask our community what their favourite running gear was for those cold winter months. We absolutely loved the responses which made us take a step back and smile at what a wonderful group of runners we have here at Coopah.
Let’s be honest, when it comes to running in the Winter Months, it is tough. However, whether it is the dark mornings, dark evenings or temperatures cold enough to make your nose freeze, we still persevere. These tough conditions can make it hard to stay motivated, but having the right gear can make the experience that much more enjoyable.
Our first piece of advice is to ensure that your clothes are comfy. Nothing is more important than comfort and that starts with ensuring your feet stay dry. Have you ever done a ParkRun or a race before and got wet feet? Yeah, no one wants to miss the after race coffee or drink! Our S&C partner @optmialstrength suggested nothing is more important than a pair of Gorex running trainers. Our preference? The Nike Pegasus Trail 3 GORE-TEX. If you’re quick, you can snap these up at half price over at Nike.
One of the next most important things is to be visible! One of our Devon members, Matt, who is used to running where there are no street lights, recommends a good headlamp. Matt is an ultra runner, used to running through the night so we take his advice on headlights as gospel. Headlamps range from cheap to expensive, but our choice is the Petzl Tikka headlamp - you can pick this up at SportShoes.com and use your Coopah Member discount!
Matt also recommends a good pair of running leggings. For Men, we recommend the Rockay tights. If you haven’t heard of Rockay before, check them out! They are changing the running scene with a key focus on sustainability! For woman, our LDN Run Club member, Lottie recommends the 2XU ones!
Sticking with the theme of “being seen”, our Park Run legend member Sarah, highly recommends a reflective gilet as it’s perfect for those long runs and it keeps you warm but not too warm. Our choice? The Proviz version! We always recommend an outer garment too and a great choice here is the wide range Asics offer. They have a range of pricing and if you shop around, you are set to find a bargain! Thanks, Kieran for the recommendation!
It’s also crucial to have a good pair of gloves. We had two big recommendations, first from Ollie, who says he hasn’t been the same since losing his Ronhill gloves and another from our speed session hero, Victoria, who says she couldn’t live without her Merino wool running gloves.
Finally, we had three recommendations that made us laugh. Hopefully, these can put a smile on your face.
Adam, suggested that there is nothing better than his London Marathon Rejection top he gets every single year…come on London Marathon, let this man run your marathon in 2022! Our German friend, Georgios, said, it doesn’t matter what winter gear you wear, all you need is a strong drink of Gluwein, whilst Hayden disagreed and said it’s all about the Guinness to warm you up!
Enjoy shopping for your winter gear.
