Pete’s travel stories - Copacabana at dawn

This month, we have another amazing travel story from our co-founder, Pete.

By Peter Cooper

Simply put, Rio is a backpackers dream. In addition to its vibrant culture and energy, there are enough activities to do to fill your Instagram for a year, including daily parties in the famous Lapa. But what was it like for a backpacker who also loves to run?

The short answer is AMAZING!

Copacabana seafront has a fantastic running track with epic views for the entire route. The track goes from one end of the beach to the other and totals 4km, so it is perfect for a sunrise or sunset run. My sunset run was incredible. I managed to get the ideal post-run recovery drink with fresh coconut water whilst taking in the breathtaking views. However, nothing can beat the tranquillity of the sunrise run! Honestly, it makes you feel like you could run for days.

The route is much quieter, and the road is shut to traffic! It is also much cooler, and you get undisturbed views of the fantastic Copacobana beach!

For this run, it was more about being there; I am struggling to put words onto paper!

Who fancies a Coopah tour to Copacabana!?
