What does Coopah do to really make running accessible?

Even through to run you only need some good trainers (sometimes not even trainers) and a place to run for example, a local park/ loop, some people even completed a marathon in the back garden during lockdown. Running can be quite inaccessible.

First of all it is that fear of, oh I can’t run. And if you want to train for a race and train properly to make sure you run your best on race day, avoid the risk of injury and better your fitness, hiring a personal coach is a great way to do that but they can be very expensive.

And we have not even started with the cost of running shoes, and race fees.

Here at Coopah, our mission is to improve people’s mental and physical health with running and technology. We want to make running more accessible and appealing for people as well as encourage them to keep going and supporting our runners through their journey no matter if this is their first 10K or 6th Major Marathon. Here are a few ways we are making running more accessible:

1.Refugee Run Club

We believe that running can help change lives; it can give people purpose, improve their physical health and importantly refocus them mentally. Coopah are proud to partner with a range of charities to allow us to welcome a new intake of refugees every quarter.

The Refugee Run Club is a completely free run society to help refugees. Refugees coming to the UK are given £8 per week to live and many develop depression.

The club provides free running training, donated kit, an active community of mentors & other refugees and communications support.

During our Refugee Run Club, Refugees are invited to join an eight week coaching programme which includes a running shirt, a hosted 5k Parkrun on day one and eight weeks of personalised coaching through our Coopah training app. It culminates in a second ParkRun at the end of the eight weeks to track their improvement.

Each week, the academy meets virtually to share their progress, discuss openly how they are feeling and get tips from a range of running experts.  Once the programme ends, Coopah provides every graduate with a lifetime coaching subscription so they can continue to use the power of running to help them be fit, happy and make the most of their lives.

2. Discounts across major brands

Coopah works with major brands to reduce the price for our members for all their running needs. For example, you can 10% off your next running shoes at Sportshoes.com as a member of Coopah. Other brands include Tribe, fourfive, Precision Hydration, etc. Download the app to access the codes.

3. Free Entry To Race

The atmosphere at running events is like no other. Some race fees can be quite expensive however and members in our refugee running club you are given £8 per week are not able to afford a race fee and therefore do not have the opportunity to experience the race atmosphere and the feeling of race day. Coopah works with race events to provide members in need with a free race entry.

4. Free Weekly Run

Every week the some of the Coopah Community meet up for a social run. We have our weekly runs in London. There is also free monthly Coopah x New Normal on Wednesdays in Hong Kong. There are so many great running clubs out there you can join for free too, for example, RunTalkRun and the Embankment Run Club.
